Why we drill deep
Good water lies below the polluted layers
Specialists agree that water from the first aquifer is out of the question and the second still carries impurities. Only the third aquifer is truly suitable for drinking.
Because of agriculture and acid rain, shallow aquifers carry nitrates above the permitted limits. That is why we drill to medium and great depths.
A common myth says water from the upper layers mixes with the deeper water. Not true — surface layers are sealed off with clay and cement, and water is drawn only from the chosen aquifer.
Don't confuse dug wells (max. 20 m, first aquifer) with drilled wells, which tap at least the second aquifer.
